All heavy items exceeding the 30″ or 15″ requirements will be removed at the expense of the renter. Any additional fees charged as noted above, including those incurred at corresponding waste management facilities, such as for improper sorting or prohibited items, will be the sole responsibility of the renter.

Tipping Fees
& Prohibited Items

It’s important to know what is and is not allowed in your county! For the most up to date list of prohibited items and tipping fees please contact your counties waste management facility!

Tipping Fees

 

Effective September 2, 2025, the Municipality introduced a revised tipping fee structure at Kenloch Waste Management Facility to reflect increased operational and transportation costs associated with processing and diverting materials in accordance with updated provincial regulations. The tipping fees are as follows:

  • Sorted load: $48.00/metric tonne
  • Unsorted load: $110.00/metric tonne
  • Mixed load: $235.00/metric tonne
  • Nonresidential residual waste: $97.20/metric tonne

Definitions:

  • Sorted load: separated construction and demolition materials only.
  • Unsorted load: construction and demolition materials only, that have not been separated.
  • Mixed load: construction and demolition materials that have not been separated, mixed with regular garbage, recyclables, organics, or other banned materials.

Beginning in August there will be some changes to how we collect residential waste and new tip fees for business customers at our facilities. For businesses, tip fees will be charged beginning August 30, 2021.

Unsorted Loads will be charged x2

  • Source separated waste (Clear, blue, & green bags): $85.00
  • Recyclables & cardboard: $85.00
  • Construction &
    Demolition Material: $85.00
  • Organics: $75.00
  • Metals & Appliances: $45.00
  • Leaf & Yard Waste: $40.00

  • Up to a ½ ton truck or car with small trailer: $25.00
  • ¾ ton truck with or without a trailer: $35.00
  • 1 ton truck: $50.00
  • Tandem Truck: $100.00
  • Tractor Trailer: $200.00

  • Commercial And Demolition (C&D) Unsorted load: $114.31/tonne
  • C&D Wood: $57.15/tonne
  • Impacted Soil: $42.86/tonne
  • Scrap Metal: $42.86/tonne
  • Organics: $71.44/tonne
  • Organics Unsorted: $114.31/tonne
  • Asbestos(friable): $42.86/regulation bag & minimum charge $600.00
  • Asbestos(non-friable): $114.31/tonne
  • Leaf & Yard Waste: Free

Definitions:

  • Residual Mixed Load (RMW): mixed waste (garbage) charged to commercial sectors.
  • Commercial And Demolition (C&D) Unsorted load: construction and demolition materials only, that have not been separated.

As per Richmond County by-law no. 17, Solid Waste Management By-Law, loads of waste in excess of 200 Kg are subject to the following tipping fees (with the fee based on the actual total weight of the load as determined by the Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility):

Effective June 1, 2021

  • Construction & Demolition (C&D) Sorted: $50/Tonne
  • Construction & Demolition (C&D) Unsorted: $90/Tonne
  • Residual Garbage: $100/Tonne
  • Recyclables: $100/Tonne
  • Organics Uncontaminated: $30/Tonne
  • Organics Contaminated: $80/Tonne
  • Mixed / Non-Compliant Residual Waste: $170/Tonne 

Definitions:
